1 Month Old

We can’t believe Gwynn is already a month old! It seems like yesterday that we were bringing her home from the hospital.

At 1 month…

  • Gwynn is still not sleeping in her crib. We still want to have her close to us when she’s sleeping! She either sleeps in the “Rock and Play Sleeper” next to our bed or in the “Pack n’ Play.” However, we are prepared for when she does finally go in her crib. We have a regular baby monitor, a video monitor, and an AngelCare monitor (one that senses movement). We might have gone a little overboard on the monitors…
  • She loves to sleep! We’re still not on a strict schedule, but at night she’ll sleep until around 2 or 3 (after her 10:00 feeding). She also really loves to eat. The second Gwynn decides she is hungry we better be ready with a bottle. She will scream like we have never fed her before and NOTHING will calm her down until she gets her bottle. I guess she gets her impatience from her mommy.
  • Gwynn’s still wearing newborn clothes and diapers, but she’s starting to fit into some 3 month clothes and we’ll have to switch to size 1 diapers any day now.
  • She LOVES bath time! The only time she’ll cry is when it’s time to get out of the tub and she’s cold. For some reason, she loves to suck on her hands and fingers when we’re bathing her!
  • We’ve been doing “tummy time” with Gwynn everyday. She’s getting really good at holding her head up and turning it from side to side when lying on her belly. A lot of her tummy time takes place while she’s lying on our tummies…it’s her favorite place to nap!
  • Last but not least, the dreaded pacifier. I had always said I didn’t want to give Gwynn a pacifier unless it was absolutely necessary and I definitely didn’t want to start it so early. That changed when she went into the NICU. They gave her a pacifier and there was no turning back. She LOVES it, but has a hard time keeping it in her mouth which means LOTS of running back and forth for mommy and daddy when it falls out and she starts screaming. We learned quickly not to give it to her when we’re going to sleep at night (if she falls asleep without it she’s fine all night with no paci).

We go to doctor on August 18th for shots (I’m making Grandma go with me to that appointment, since Jeff will be working) and I think they’ll get height and weight again while we’re there. I can’t wait to see how big Gwynn’s gotten in the last month!
