Snow and Ice Adventure

We had a snowpocolypse that lasted for 3 days. Folks were stuck on highways, schools, office buildings and anything else you can imagine.

Mommy had to work as a lunch lady to help out. No, there were no sloppy joes served.

Daddy was able to make it to daycare but couldn’t make it home while mommy was stuck at home sans daddy and the kids. Luckily roads improved enough that she was able to come pick everyone up on Wednesday.

Despite only being 6 miles from daycare the big hill on double oak mountain was impassable. We got reports it had thawed out, but once we got on there we still saw plenty of ice.

The Greatest Show on Earth!

Mimi gave tickets to the circus to Gwynn for Christmas. She had never been before. Mommy hadn’t been in a long time either. Daddy used to go every year until about middle school.

Gwynn didn’t know what to think at first.

Once they paraded everyone out she was mesmerized.

Sick day with daddy

Gwynn woke up with pink eye and had to stay home. It was daddy’s turn to miss work.

She was pretty pitiful.

But she quickly perked up.

Gwynn-isms

  • A-nut: Acorn and Band-Aid (Band-Aid used to be “night night” but it recently changed to a-nut)
  • A-wa-dor: Dora (as in Dora the Explorer…one of Gwynn’s new favorite shows) . She’s gotten better about pronouncing it correctly.
  • Bear-bane: Airplane…Gwynn loves listening for airplanes outside and she really loves when she can see one in the sky
  • Hot cold: hot chocolate.
  • When she wants something and we tell her to say the magic word (“please”) she says, “Miska-Mooska-Mickey Mouse!”
  • When she wants to be sure we heard something she said, she’ll end her sentence with “You know dat?”

MLK Volunteering

Since we have MLK day off we decided to meet up with other Hands on Birmingham volunteers and help do some landscaping at a local school.

Luke is an expert raker/sweeper.

Gwynn did a great job putting leaves into trash bags. She also put rocks and anything else on the ground in there too.
