Memorial Day Picnic

On Memorial Day we went to the BF Goodrich plant where Pop used to work. They have a family fun day with lots of things to do.

Gwynn is awfully patriotic.

Luke fell asleep before we even got started.

On the plant tour. Luke was still out.

Luke woke up eventually. Being passed around can do that to a kid. Nobody could hold him for too long because he’s so big.

Luke was not big on walking this day.

This appears to be Kate laughing at Gwynn after she fell over, but that can’t be right.

Slip ‘n Slide

We decided to have Gwynn try the slip and slide while at Grandma and Pop’s. She was a little hesitant at first, but after she figured it out she loved it.

Gwynn wouldn’t run and slide so we had to set it up on an incline so gravity would do all of the work.

We also set up a pool which was more up Luke’s alley.

Moving Dirt with Pop

Pop asked us to come down to Tuscaloosa because he had something for the kids to do that would require them to wear clothing we didn’t mind getting dirty. Well, there’s nothing dirtier than dirt itself and that’s what the kids ended up playing with.

The aforementioned big pile of dirt. Their job: fill in holes in Pop and Grandma’s yard.

Gwynn seemed to enjoy the manual labor.

Daddy even got to drive the mower and haul the dirt.

Luke took his bucket full of dirt over to the holes in the yard that needed filling. We’re not sure why he put the bucket on his head on the walk back.

Dinner with Mimi

Daddy had to work tonight, so Mommy and Mimi took the kids out to eat.  We asked Gwynn what she wanted for dinner and of course she said “Chips and Cheese!!” so off to Pablo’s we went!

Big kid beds!

Luke was climbing out of his crib on a regular basis, so we decided it was time to switch him to a toddler bed. All we had to do was remove the front of the crib, so it was fairly easy. However, getting him to sleep in this new bed was not easy.

We have to sit right next to the bed until he falls asleep so he won’t get out and play. It usually takes about 30 minutes (sometimes more if he’s in a playful mood).

01f1e85478eb6a4ac8a0f5ad7a7bf845c600062262

This is usually how we’ll find Luke in the middle of the night. He’ll sleep like this for a while, but he pretty much always wakes up around 1 or 2 and has to be put back in his bed.

01c1d42a8d8aec15cee49ef8a619fc016411a673d6

Gwynn on the other hand was very easy to transition into a big girl bed. We never had any issues with her climbing out of bed, but since Luke was getting a new bed she needed one too.

She usually stays in bed all night, but on occasion we’ll find her like this…

(Her room is usually not this messy…I guess she decided to play a little before falling asleep).
