Thanksgiving at the beach

We did something a little different and went to the beach for Thanksgiving. The kids had never been and the weather was supposed to be nice so we made a somewhat last minute decision to head down.

On the first night we ate at Waffle House.

The next morning we headed to the beach to let the kids see the ocean (gulf) for the first time. It was a bit windy.

Having fun.

As you can see, there weren't a lot of people on the beach at 9:00am the week of Thanksgiving.

 Obligatory couple selfie.

Uncle Jeremy trying to explain how piers are built.

Mimi showing Gwynn some sort of sea animal.

Time for some go-karts. Luke rode with Daddy and Gwynn went with Uncle Jeremy.

Daddy taking it easy on his brother.

Gracious in defeat.

It's not a beach vacation unless somebody gets an airbrushed T-shirt.

On to mini-golf! Nice to have a snowman decoration you can pose with in short sleeves and shorts.

"That's a two stroke penalty! You moved the ball from the fairway! CHEATER!"

"I wonder how many golf scholarships Alabama gives out?"

Aunt Julie aiming for a hole in one.

That night we went to a mini-amusement park. Back in the day they had a huge amusement park, but it was sold years ago.

Gwynn is squished by Uncle Jeremy so she doesn't fly out of her seat.

Having fun.

On to the pier.

Some exotic bird they had down at the beach. Anyone know what it is?

Trying to explain to Luke how jumping off the pier wouldn't be a good idea.

"Let's spit off this thing" - Luke

More sand time.

Wandering around.

Running around.

Burying Luke's feet in sand.

Alvin's Island. It wasn't very busy.

Their "live" alligators weren't doing much, but it was late November so there's a chance they weren't dead, just tired.

"Is they dead?"

Chilling at our condo.

More fun at the beach.

Making sandcastles.

Gwynn's attempt to write "I love you". Needs work on that heart.

Playing at the condo.

"Mmmmm"

Pretty view from a beach.
