First Alabama Game…sort of

Since A-Day was a weekend we were going to be in Tuscaloosa anyway we decided to take the kids to their first “game”. It was free and would give us a chance to see if it would be worth taking them to a real game in the fall (spoiler: it isn’t).

01ad4e1b0cd8cfc470400be09d0305b4b37f72e714

Luke decided not to nap in the morning. Bad decision Luke.

Pop and Aunt Jen came with us for backup in case one of the kids needed to head out early. Since parking and the game didn’t cost anything it wasn’t a big deal if a certain little boy needed to go home early in the second half because he got cranky due to skipping his morning nap.

Gwynn enjoyed the snack aspect of the game.

“No no no! Don’t run a toss to the short side of the field. Come on Kiffin!”

Luke will be taking the field in about 17 years as an offensive lineman.

Thankfully the NCAA allows athletes to get fed as much as they can eat so Luke won’t go hungry.

Fun day with cousins!

We kept cousins Grace and Kate one Saturday evening and everyone had a blast!

Dinner inside? No way.

Waiting on the ice cream truck to come. I mean, it’s Saturday evening, it’s going to come right?

Nope, no ice cream truck. This picture was taken 12 hours later.

Eventually daddy had to go get some ice cream bars from the store because 2 year olds don’t take disappointment too well.

We played a few games of tag that they seemed to enjoy even if Luke had no idea what was going on.

Dinner and The Sno Shack

Mimi comes over once a week to have dinner with us and this time we went to Happy Gilmer’s in Chelsea.  It was our first time. It’s a hot dog/hamburger type of place.

Gwynn enjoyed her food. Anything with ketchup is a big hit with her.

The kids weren’t really into getting their picture taken on the big Adirondack chair.

Luke quietly eating his food (for once).

On to the Chelsea Sno Shack. We had to put a bib on Gwynn for the first time in a long while so she wouldn’t ruin her shirt.

19 months (Luke)

19 months

At 19 months…

  • Says, “School bus” and “big truck” when he sees them while riding around.
  • Luke has bitten some other children at daycare. We’re not very happy about him doing that.
  • He is still getting teeth, but now they’re molars and they seem to hurt.
  • Still uses a pacifier at night.
  • Luke tries to jump like his big sister but he doesn’t get off the ground yet. In fact, he’ll often fall back onto his butt after attempting a jump.
  • He is still a mama’s boy.
  • Luke doesn’t enjoy the big pool at the Y.
  • He loves playing at the park and running around in the backyard. Anything that’s outside he likes.
  • He’ll “smile” on command.
  • Luke has started saying “Mine!”
  • Luke is still easy to put down for bed but not so easy to keep asleep. Maybe half the time he’ll sleep until the morning, but oftentimes he’ll get restless and daddy will sleep next to him. He usually gets up at 5-5:30am ready to go. At Grandma and Pop’s house he keeps mommy and daddy from a good night’s sleep because he’ll groan whilst sleeping and he’s very loud.

Piggy Bank

Gwynn got a piggy bank from Grandma back around the time she was born. Over the past few months she’s started to enjoy putting money inside. I’m not sure she understands that one day she’ll actually use the money she puts inside.

Once she’s older we’ll be able to teach her about what the coins are worth, but for now she just likes dropping them in.

She loves stacking the coins on top of one another.
