21 months

21 months

  • Gwynn is talking up a storm.  Here are some new things she’s saying:
    • “I want ____” …she says this pretty much all day. “I want Mickey,” “I want juice,” etc. Now we just need her to add “please” to the end and we’ll be good.
    • Bapple (apple)
    • Kuke (Luke)
    • Eek (eat)…my favorite is when she screams at the kitty “Eek!!” and points to his food when she wants him to eat his food (she’s started doing this with Luke, mommy, and daddy too).
    • Shoes…she loves showing everyone her shoes.
    • Nose…she points to her nose and says “nose” when she needs a tissue.
    • Mimi (Grammy)
    • Bobble (bottle)
    • Gace (cousin Grace)
    • Kake (cousin Kate)
    • Here go…she says “here you go” when she’s handing you something.
  • Potty training did not go as planned.  She went a few times on the potty, but we’re going to wait until the summer to really try. She will say “I pee pee” after she goes in her diaper though…so that’s a start!
  • She went (and is still going through) a hitting phase, but it’s really only directed at mommy.  When she doesn’t get her way she’ll scream “NO!!” and swing her arms to hit. She goes into time out for 1 minute when she does this. It was happening A LOT for about a week or two, but it’s gotten much better. Now it just happens when she’s really tired and cranky.
  • She has tantrums while getting dressed and changed. She gets so mad when she has to get dressed in the morning…it’s becoming quite a challenge to get them ready for school.
  • Gwynn is still sleeping in her crib. We have no plans of moving her to a toddler bed any time soon.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
  • She absolutely loved hunting Easter eggs (we've had numerous egg hunts in the house since Easter). She would pick up each egg and shake it to see if it had anything inside…it was so sweet.
  • We switched to a big car seat for Luke (that stays in the car), so Gwynn’s having to be a big girl and walk into and out of daycare by herself each day. Sometimes she lets mommy hold her, but not daddy.  She is very good at walking up and down the steps and standing by the car while we strap Luke into his seat.
  • Gwynn loves playing on the iPhone, iPad, and iTouch.  She is now able to turn it on, slide the unlock bar over, and scroll through the screens to pick what she wants to play.  It’s scary how well she can use it.
  • Gwynn loves to pray!  She’s got the sign of the cross down pat (except she uses the wrong hand!!).
