Luke is working on smiling for the camera. He’s got a lot of work to do. He knows he’s got to do something with his face, he just doesn’t know what. For our part we’ve laughed at the face he makes so he must think he’s doing it right.
We’re working on getting Luke used to wearing a hat. He generally doesn’t like hats but for some reason he likes this one.
Backwards, too.
Maybe since it’s a Jake and the Neverland Pirate hat he’s trying to be a pirate.
“Arrgghh!”

Luke’s New Hat (and smile)
The Ice Cream Truck
We have heard the Ice Cream Truck in the neighborhood a few times, but we’ve never heard it until it has passed our house. Until today.
Gwynn was so excited.
The lady was very patient with Gwynn. It took her a long time to figure out what she wanted. We had to help steer her along because we didn’t want her to pick the $3.50 Mickey treat.
Treat in hand.
Luke got his own treat, though at this point he thought he was getting hosed.

Gwynn’s First Haircut
During spring break we took Gwynn to get her first haircut. We were worried she’d lose her curls, but we had to do it sometime.
Gwynn did much better than Luke – she didn’t cry a bit. She’s not as much a crier when she’s scared – she’ll oftentimes just get really quiet.
What her hair looked like before the cutting started.
No emotion.
“Are we done yet? I need to go to Chuck E. Cheese”
Afterwards. It wasn’t much of a haircut but she looks better now. Her next haircut should be sometime in 2017.
Backyard fun
With nicer weather and a new picnic table (thanks to Grandma and Pop) we’ve had plenty of snacks and meals outside.
Gwynn even gets to water… the concrete.
Luke is appalled that she’s wasting water.
Chips and cheese. Her favorite.
Something edible. His favorite.
Luke tossed the pigskin around after Gwynn had gone inside for a bit. He didn’t want to come in.
Running away from the ball for some reason.
Consoling himself with food.

Healthy Banana Muffins
Mommy got a recipe for Banana Muffins from a friend at work. We’ve made them once already, but this time Gwynn helped!
Here’s the recipe in case you want to make them too…
2.5 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup plain low-fat greek yogurt (I used fat-free)
2 eggs
1/2 cup honey
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 TBSP ground flax seed (I left this out)
1 tsp vanilla
2 ripe bananas
Small package of walnuts (not part of original recipe)
Handful of raisins (not part of original recipe)
I used a food processor to chop up the oats, bananas, and walnuts (this was by far Gwynn’s favorite part).
Adding the honey. You can’t really see the honey bear in this picture because Gwynn is shaking it so hard to get out every last drop!
We plan on delivering the muffins to Grandma and Pop…hope they like them as much as we do!

18 months (Luke)
- Our big boy is 18 months old! Hard to believe. Here are his stats from his 18 month checkup:
- Length: 34.75 inches (75th-90th percentile)
- Weight: 27 pounds 4 ounces (90th percentile)
- Head Circumference: 19.5 inches
- He’s been watching his sister use the potty and he’s been telling us when he needs to go “poo-poo.” He’s gone twice when we’ve made it to the potty in time.
- He loves to look for the moon and stars in the sky.
- He also loves seeing airplanes and helicopters fly by.
- He can repeat pretty much everything we say. Our favorites are “basketball” and “cock-a-doodle-doo.”
- Daddy took Luke to the pool at the YMCA and he was not a fan. He wanted to hold on to Daddy and not let the water go above his knees.
- Luke is still an early riser (5:30), but will take 2 long naps during the day and be ready for bed by 7:30pm.
- Luke would be a fruitarian if we’d let him. He’s not particularly picky about what he eats, but if he’s got fruit on his plate he’ll eat it first. He also likes any kind of breakfast food.
- Luke loves to play outside.
- We’ve gotten rid of the pacifier except for nighttime. Once he gets up he’ll toss it in his crib along with his squirrel.

Hair stylin’ with Aunt Jen
It’s nice that Aunt Jen is only about a 2 hour drive away because now she can come by more frequently.
This weekend she came by and helped with Gwynn’s hair.
Gwynn was ecstatic.
Luke begging us to let Aunt Jen give him some Jheri curls.
Like aunt like niece.
