Pumpkin Patch 2017

We made our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch today. This year, we went back to Old Baker Farm in Harpersville. It was so much fun...a little muddy, but still great!

Corn maze...

Searching for the golden kernel (we don't think there was a golden kernel).

Playing in the cotton was a favorite activity.

Hay Mountain was fun too.

Hayride to the pumpkin patch!

We found the perfect pumpkins!

Toyota Open House

Aunt Julie works at Toyota in Huntsville. They had an Open House with games, food, and a tour of the factory. It was really awesome!

The kids loved the Treasure Hunt through the factory looking for symbols to fill up their board. They had to find the symbol and collect the sticker. If they found 6 symbols throughout the factory, they got a prize!

Coolest part of the tour was the robot. He (I guess it was a "he") spun a wheel to play a song, then danced to the song; played math games, then got a piece of gum out of a gumball machine if you got the answer right; and built minecraft people out of boxes. It was really cool.

Julie's department was in charge of this game. The kids used a catapult to launch marshmallows. They even got a kit to take home to make their own!

Painting pumpkins!

Visiting Aunt Julie's work definitely reinforced the fact that Gwynn and Luke want to be engineers. They're pretty sure all Aunt Julie does is paint pumpkins and play games though.

Mimi came up for the day too. We got to give her the birthday gift we had made!

It's "the church in the middle of nowhere!" It's actually the church in Sturgis, MS that we go to for Decoration Day each year. My friend, Rorie Scroggins, did a great job painting it!

Field Trip

Daddy got to go on the 1st grade field trip to the zoo with Gwynn and her class.

Mrs. Hall's class.

Petting a ferret.

We ran into Ben! Yay!

Gwynn and some buddies stopped to pose with everything they could find.

A silly pose with giraffes in the background.

Skipping to the next exhibit.

Maybe they need to turn up the heat in this monkey enclosure?

American Heritage Girls trip to Oak Mountain State Park

Gwynn's AHG troop had a nature activity planned that involved learning about birds.

Gwynn would follow the nature trail and then draw and write about the birds.

After that it was time for a hike up to the top of the hill to learn more about birds.

We learned a lot about owls. This owl spat out an owl pellet. Cool and gross.

Gwynn is about as wide as a peregrine falcon.

Boo at the Zoo

As members of the Zoo we got a chance to go to a free members only Boo at the Zoo event.

But first... a power nap. It wouldn't have lasted so long if not for the insanely long time it took to get in and park. There are a lot more members than we thought!

Getting a tattoo.

All dressed up.

Posing with the dragon.

Getting candy.

Riding on a scooter.
