Disney World!

For our 5th anniversary (not until July 12th) we decided to make a trip to Disney World. Kristen had never gone, but I had been 4 times.

When we checked in Kristen got a button saying it’s her first visit.

We both got buttons saying it was our 5th anniversary. I wore mine as much as possible, Kristen… not so much. We got free desserts at each of our sit down dinners because of these buttons, which was nice. We plan on wearing them every time we go to Disney World.  :-)

We stayed the Pop Century resort. It’s a “value” resort, which means it’s a lot less expensive than some of the other Disney resorts. The room was fairly plain, but the resort itself was pretty neat.

There were 3 pools. This one was the Hippy Dippy pool and was the biggest and most popular.

Each part of the resort was themed around a particular decade – 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s. We stayed in the 50s area.

Next to our building were two figures from “Lady and the Tramp”. The movie came out in 1955 which is how it’s related to our 50s area.

If these were real you could make enough French fries to feed everyone in the U.S.

Most kids said, “Hey, what’s that thing?” when they walked by.

The only way the youth of America knows this is because it’s the save icon on computers.

23 months

• Gwynn’s vocabulary keeps improving. It’s getting a lot easier to figure out what she wants just by her telling us. Instead of “paci” she says “daddy” which can be confusing.
• Her manners are great. She will say please and thank you without prompting most of the time. If she doesn’t want something she’ll say “no thank you” instead of just “no”. Even when she’s pitching a fit she’ll usually still say “no thank you.” For example, if we say it’s time for bed she’ll scream “No! ... thank you”
• Gwynn is still wearing the same size diapers as Luke (size 4). Hopefully by her second birthday she’ll be done with diapers (except at night). She’s in 24 month/2T clothes.
• Gwynn is still very protective of her toys around Luke, but she’s getting better about not being mean/hitting/kicking Luke when he tries to play with them. Luke is getting to be pretty resilient, so we might just not worry about him getting hurt as much as when he was a baby.
• She can use eating utensils quite well. She loves using a “moom” (spoon). She’ll spear some food with a fork and dip it in “keckup” and eat it without making a mess. She can use a regular cup without spilling too much.
• Gwynn is a pro with the iPad/iPhone. She can open it, pull up a game and start playing. If the volume is too low she knows how to turn it up. She loves opening the camera and trying to take a picture, though she’s not a very good photographer. Gwynn even answered a FaceTime call from Mommy when she was staying with Grandma and Pop!
• We’ve tried some new treats with Gwynn (as other posts have shown). She loves trying new desserts.  Popsicles are her favorite (for now).

Summer Treats

Besides summer snow Gwynn has enjoyed some other treats this summer.

Apple sauce is a staple of Gwynn’s diet, but she loves it nonetheless.

She’s good with her spoon.

When the spoon won’t do she goes to a more low tech method of getting the apple sauce.

Gwynn had never had an Oatmeal Cream Pie before, and she loved it. Since Nick Saban is a winner and he loves them we figure she’s going to be a winner too.

“But how do I eat it? It’s smooshed on the table.”

“Oh, I’ve got it!”

“Everyone freeze! I’ve got the best idea!”

“You don’t have to pick it up, you just lick it off the table! Genius!”
