Great Grandmom

Great Grandmom passed away on April 1st at the age of 96. I’m so glad that Gwynn and Luke were able to meet her and that she lived such a long and happy life.  We miss her dearly, but we know we will see her again in a much happier place!

Here are some of our favorite pictures of Gram and the kids…

21 months

21 months

  • Gwynn is talking up a storm.  Here are some new things she’s saying:
    • “I want ____” …she says this pretty much all day. “I want Mickey,” “I want juice,” etc. Now we just need her to add “please” to the end and we’ll be good.
    • Bapple (apple)
    • Kuke (Luke)
    • Eek (eat)…my favorite is when she screams at the kitty “Eek!!” and points to his food when she wants him to eat his food (she’s started doing this with Luke, mommy, and daddy too).
    • Shoes…she loves showing everyone her shoes.
    • Nose…she points to her nose and says “nose” when she needs a tissue.
    • Mimi (Grammy)
    • Bobble (bottle)
    • Gace (cousin Grace)
    • Kake (cousin Kate)
    • Here go…she says “here you go” when she’s handing you something.
  • Potty training did not go as planned.  She went a few times on the potty, but we’re going to wait until the summer to really try. She will say “I pee pee” after she goes in her diaper though…so that’s a start!
  • She went (and is still going through) a hitting phase, but it’s really only directed at mommy.  When she doesn’t get her way she’ll scream “NO!!” and swing her arms to hit. She goes into time out for 1 minute when she does this. It was happening A LOT for about a week or two, but it’s gotten much better. Now it just happens when she’s really tired and cranky.
  • She has tantrums while getting dressed and changed. She gets so mad when she has to get dressed in the morning…it’s becoming quite a challenge to get them ready for school.
  • Gwynn is still sleeping in her crib. We have no plans of moving her to a toddler bed any time soon.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
  • She absolutely loved hunting Easter eggs (we've had numerous egg hunts in the house since Easter). She would pick up each egg and shake it to see if it had anything inside…it was so sweet.
  • We switched to a big car seat for Luke (that stays in the car), so Gwynn’s having to be a big girl and walk into and out of daycare by herself each day. Sometimes she lets mommy hold her, but not daddy.  She is very good at walking up and down the steps and standing by the car while we strap Luke into his seat.
  • Gwynn loves playing on the iPhone, iPad, and iTouch.  She is now able to turn it on, slide the unlock bar over, and scroll through the screens to pick what she wants to play.  It’s scary how well she can use it.
  • Gwynn loves to pray!  She’s got the sign of the cross down pat (except she uses the wrong hand!!).

Easter Dinner in Columbiana

We went to Aunt Sherry’s house the week before Easter for Gwynn’s first Easter egg hunt. We weren’t sure how she’d do since she’s so young and had never done anything like that before, but she ended up doing awesome!

Gwynn listening to instructions from mommy on what to do.

Gwynn put her basket down while she went hunting for eggs which was probably a good idea as it helped her run around faster.

Luke didn’t do any hunting, but he’ll be ready for next time.

Luke was all smiles as he took notes on how to Easter egg hunt.

Gwynn’s basket slowly fills up.

Gwynn was very deliberate about picking up her basket, she never dropped a single egg.

“Mom! Come here! Look at how good I did!”

Gwynn accidently open up an egg. Her response was to say “Uh oh!” and give it to daddy to fix.

Happy Birthday Grace!

grace dinner2

Grace turned 7 on March 21st and we celebrated on her actual birthday with dinner at Outback.

Although Luke would have probably eaten a nice, juicy steak…he had to settle for a bottle and puffs instead.

On Saturday we celebrated Grace’s birthday again with a “Wizard of Oz” party!

We put Gwynn in the bouncy house and she didn’t really like it.

She would run to the door after about 3 seconds of jumping!

They had the movie playing inside.  Kate and Daddy enjoyed watching that.

Gwynn wasn’t into the movie, so she played with Kate’s dolls.

We kept saying how miserable Luke is going to be in a few years when he’s the only boy at these parties…I guess him and Daddy will have to stay home and do guy things while Mommy and Gwynn go to the girlie parties!

Luke loves his Uncle Jack!

We had a great time celebrating Grace’s birthday…we can’t believe she’s already 7!

Mommy and Me Playtime

One of Mommy’s friends invited us to join her for Mommy and Me Playtime.  Since we are on Spring Break this week we were able to go.  It was so much fun!

Gwynn was a little apprehensive at first with all the new kids and new toys, but she came around eventually and had a blast!

They had an obstacle course set up…the kids had to run in and out of cones, lift weights, go over a step, crawl across a mat, hop in and out of a ladder on the floor, and go through a tunnel. Gwynn didn’t do it exactly right, but she tried hard.

They had free play next. I think we’re going to have to get Gwynn a hula hoop
…and a ball pit
…and a tunnel.
They ended the class with stretches and Gwynn’s favorite part…
a treat bag with snacks inside!

Dinosaurs at the Zoo

We took a trip to the Zoo today.  It was pretty much the perfect day to go…the weather was SO NICE! They have a special exhibit on dinosaurs set up so we decided to check it out.  It was really cool…the dinosaurs move, make noise, and some even spit water at you! Luke and Mommy came very close to getting soaked!
Daddy told Gwynn all about dinosaurs along the way.
Mommy and Gwynn about to be eaten by a T-Rex. Gwynn didn’t know that this dinosaur made noise and jumped a foot when it roared at us!
Luke missed the dinosaur exhibit.

Someone’s getting sleepy…
Daddy teaching Gwynn how to drive a tractor.
Someone’s awake!!
We had such a great time at the zoo…we know we’ll get lots of use out of our membership in the next few months since the weather is so nice.
