Spring Break so far…

We are staying in town for Spring Break this year. It’s nice to get to sleep in (at least until 7 am) and just hang out with the kids instead of always being on the go.

Luke wore himself out at dinner one night…

We bought a new (used) jogging stroller, so we’ve been putting some miles on that.  Mommy and Daddy are doing a 5K in June, so the training has begun!

We’ve tried potty-training Gwynn. She LOVES her Minnie undies and has actually used the potty once, but we’ve had lots of accidents too.

This little guy started crawling this week, so he’s been spending lots of time in the bouncer!  :-)

Gym Meet

Gwynn and I went to the Alabama Gymnastics meet with Aunt Michelle, Grace, Kate, and their friends…this was Gwynn’s first time going and she did great!
Gwynn’s favorite part was definitely when they turned out all of the lights except a giant disco ball and there were lights circling the Coliseum. She just stared in amazement.

All smiles!
Gwynn and Grace.
We left the meet a little early and Gwynn got to run around the front of the Coliseum…she had the best time.
The meet started at 7:30 (which is 15 minutes past Gwynn’s bedtime) so I thought she’d be exhausted, but she was full of energy all night!

6 months (Luke)

  • 6 month stats…
    • Length: 27 inches
    • Weight: 19 lbs 4 oz
    • Head Circumference: 17 5/8 inches
  • Luke is loving food now!  At 5 months, he wasn’t too impressed, but now he can’t get enough.  They will feed him baby food at daycare for lunch and we usually give him 2 servings of baby food for dinner (we think he could eat more, but we don’t want him getting sick!). On the weekends we’ll give him something easy for breakfast too, but when we’re pressed for time during the week it’s just a bottle. He’s usually not that hungry in the mornings anyway. His favorite food is without a doubt…PUFFS!
  • He is definitely mobile now too. He can roll anywhere he wants to go and will scoot backwards when he’s trying to crawl.  He gets up on his knees and rocks back and forth really fast…we think he’ll be crawling any day now.
  • He is sitting up pretty well, but still gets a little off balance at times and falls over.
  • Luke is such a ham.  He loves to smile.  We had Easter pictures taken and the photographer couldn’t believe how easy it was to get him to smile.
  • He still only has his 2 bottom teeth. Lots of low grade fevers and drooling, so we think tooth #3 will make an appearance soon.
  • He’s sleeping in his crib full time now and since we started feeding him real (baby) food he’s been sleeping a lot longer.  We’ve even made it all night a few times…woo hoo!
  • Luke loves his big sissy. When he sees Gwynn his face lights up.  He loves to roll around on the floor with her and pull her hair.  He also likes to steal her toys which she isn’t too happy about.
  • It’s very hard for Mommy to wear necklaces because Luke will get a death grip on it and pull as hard as he can. He even broke one, but thankfully Pop was able to fix it!
  • We have been so blessed with another sweet, sweet baby.  We can’t believe he is 6 months old already.  We were so nervous about Gwynn and Luke being so close in age, but he’s made it so easy because he’s so laid back.  I can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store as he starts getting more mobile!  Should be fun!!

20 months old

20 months

  • Gwynn’s vocabulary has gotten bigger. She’ll say “juice” when she gets home from daycare and “paci” when she wants her pacifier. She’s started to use more two word sentences– the best is “love you”.
  • Gwynn is a great hugger. She gives great “good night” kisses too. She loves hugging Luke and has even laid on top of him a time or too (with all of her weight on top of him) while giving him a hug and kiss.  Good thing he’s a big boy!
  • She’s gotten very particular about her clothing, especially her shoes. She has 3 or 4 pairs of shoes depending on the outfit and weather and sometimes it’s hard to get her to put on the right shoes if she’s got her mind set on some other pair.
  • She loves to color, even though it’s more like scribbling. Mommy traced her hand for a Valentine’s card one time and she will try to trace her own hand every time she has paper and a crayon.
  • She has started to get possessive of her toys. She gets mad at Luke if she thinks he’s taking something of hers. He loves grabbing her Ellie and her Monkey (the loveys she sleeps with). He also loves grabbing her hair and has even pulled a pretty big clump out!
  • We hope to get Gwynn potty-trained over Spring Break. She’s showing lots of interest in the potty, but is not using it consistently.  She’ll take her animals to use the potty, but not herself!
  • When we pick Gwynn up from daycare she’ll jump up and run to us the second she hears our voice or sees us come in the door. She’ll run to get her jacket and Luke’s bottle bag.  She even pulls Luke’s car seat out of the corner and gets it ready for him…she is so sweet.
  • On the other hand, the temper tantrums have started.  When Gwynn wants to do something herself (feed herself, walk by herself, etc) she’ll scream “No!!!”, “Me!!!”, or “Mine!!!” until we give in. It’s a very, very high pitched scream, so if we are in public we usually have to give in pretty quickly.  We are able to stand our ground at home though…hopefully this phase will end pretty soon.

This is usually how their playtime ends…Luke pulling Gwynn’s hair.  She thinks it’s funny at first, but then realizes it hurts!!

She’s not exactly clear on how puzzles work…she just likes to dump all the pieces in a big pile.
