Memorial Day in Tuscaloosa

After our trip to Mississippi, we headed to Tuscaloosa to spend time with Mommy’s side of the family. Uncle Jack, Aunt Michelle, Grace, and Kate were there to celebrate Memorial Day too!

I think Gwynn wanted to take Grovie home with her, but Kate would never let that happen!

Great Grandmom was all smiles since she got to see all three girls today!

Gwynn loved sitting with Uncle Jack and Grace.

memorial day3

Gwynn enjoyed her time in Grandma and Pop’s pool a little better than last time we tried swimming!

memorial day4

She even got a mohawk!

She was having so much fun, until the shenanigans started…

Then she was happy just watching from the sidelines.

West Point, Mississippi (Day 2)

Gwynn is a morning person, daddy is not.

Gwynn experiencing a milestone – her first continental breakfast from a Holiday Inn Express in rural Mississippi. They grow up so fast.

DSC_6097

We went to Mississippi for a reunion and Decoration Day. Sunday was when we went to the cemetery where some of Jeff’s side of the family is buried.

DSC_6121

“Rural” doesn’t begin to describe it.

DSC_6102

Perfect hiding place for critters.

Years ago this was an old wrought-iron fence but it has since been upgraded to a chain link fence.

West Point, Mississippi (Day 1)

Gwynn was a champ in the hotel room. She took a nice nap in the afternoon and slept her normal 10 hours at night.

DSC_6039

Here she is with my mom’s aunt Gladys.

DSC_6044

Her house isn’t exactly baby proof. We had to be on constant alert to make sure she didn’t get ahold of anything dangerous.

DSC_6046

Her favorite things to play with were coasters.

DSC_6047

Gwynn thinks she’s a dog person until the dog actually pays attention to her.

DSC_6048

Since the dog isn’t paying her any attention she’s trying to get to it.

DSC_6051

Enjoying being the center of attention.

DSC_6056

We went to to a local church for a family reunion for Jeff’s mom’s side of the family.

DSC_6061

Gwynn has no issues with going to people she doesn’t know.

DSC_6065

“Bye now! Y’all come back!”

DSC_6070

Gwynn eyeballing somebody or something.

DSC_6072

Quite the social butterfly.

DSC_6075

Discussing the finer points of geopolitical posturing.

DSC_6081

Gwynn is going to be in for a rude awakening when baby brother comes – she thinks she’s the center of it all.

Swimming–Take 2

This time we’d use warmer water and see if she liked it any better.

DSC_5986

That would be a “no”.

DSC_5987

After a few seconds she stopped crying and seemed to understand it wasn’t some type of torture device.

DSC_5988

Like a frog dropped into a hot pan she tried to jump out a few times.

DSC_5996

Here she is trying to get a taste of the bubble water.

DSC_6002

Somehow this contraption has a rudimentary sprinkler system, and Gwynn wanted to figure it out.

DSC_5993

Out we go.

DSC_6011

Gwynn getting all dried off.

Swimming

She was a bit cute in her swimsuit.

DSC_5953

We put her in the swing while we filled the “pool” with water from the hose.

DSC_5959

We had a special needs crab serve as our pool.

DSC_5961

In she goes.

DSC_5963

And here come the tears.

DSC_5964

Apparently hose water is too cold for her.

DSC_5965

That’s about as happy as she got. We figured next time we’d just use warm tap water to fill it up.
